At Zoe Cheng Family Mediation, our mission is to provide a high-quality mediation service to couples and families who are unable to agree on their finances post-separation and/or on arrangements for their children.
Your mediator has extensive experience supporting families negotiating the breakdown of relationships. She has been a practising barrister specialising in family law for over a decade.
Family mediation helps you work out arrangements for children and finances following separation or a relationship breakdown. You will be supported by Zoe, an independent and professionally trained mediator who will help you discuss and explore options for finances and arrangements for the children.
Mediators are impartial - they do not 'take sides'. Mediation is less stressful than contested court proceedings and quicker. Zoe is not there to advise you but rather to help facilitate a conversation where you explore options for the future that you might wish to take forward. If you find a solution that works for you, Zoe can explain how to make any agreement you reach legally binding, should you wish to do so.
Mediation helps empower participants to make their own decisions: no-one will make you do anything you do not want to do and the process is voluntary.
Zoe works flexibly with families to deliver a service that works for you, whether that is mediation in person or on-line, in the same space as your ex-partner or in separate spaces.
Zoe is registered with the Family Mediation Council as working towards accreditation. She has had over a decade of experience supporting families following separation or a relationship breakdown as a practising barrister specialising in family law. She offers in-person mediation in various locations in the North West and online. She can offer in-person sessions in the Fylde Coast area (Blackpool/Lytham St Annes) or in Manchester.
Zoe will have an initial meeting with you to discuss what has brought you to mediation, to explain how the process works and what the next steps are should you wish to proceed. This information meeting will help you and Zoe consider if mediation is suitable for you. Not all cases are suitable for mediation and this could be for many reasons.
If you wish to proceed and Zoe considers your case suitable, the next step would be for Zoe to contact your ex-partner/the family member with whom your relationship has broken down. Zoe will then have an initial meeting with them if they choose to participate.
Should you both wish to proceed and Zoe considers your case suitable for mediation, a joint meeting will be arranged for you both to discuss the issues that brought you to mediation and to explore options for the future. Further meetings can be arranged as and when appropriate/necessary.
A mediated agreement is considerably cheaper than an outcome following contested proceedings in a Family Court. Zoe charges £90 an hour for her time. She is not presently able to accept legal aid cases or Family Mediation Vouchers.
Please complete the form on the 'Contact Us' page to make contact with Zoe. She aims to respond within two working days.
